Limoges Craft Sale Part Deux
So, the craft sale was pretty quiet and uneventful except I did meet the cutist artist (who was also pregnant with a due date 2 weeks prior to mine). She had these beautiful pendants made from recycled glass. I wish I had of brought my camera as no amount of wordsmithing could do them justice. Her name is Fani Song and although not ready yet, her website is www.ecohandmadestudio.com. She made my day by commissioning me to make her a mixed media sign for an upcoming show in Toronto. WOOOO!
Oh, HAPPY HALLOWEEN everyone!!! Costume pics to follow shortly...

New Cards
I know it has been some time, especially since I vowed to post more often, but I have a good excuse I promise...I am PREGNANT!!! So, now that the nausea and falling down fatigue has finally let up a bit I can finally get back to my creative self. Just in time too as the Christmas craft shows are about to get into full swing. I definately need to get cracking but here are a few cards I have been working on.
A couple of girlie pieces
St. Elmos Fire
Well hello there, it has been a while hasn't it??? I have decided I need to post at least once a week, have to keep my peeps happy, haha. Just wanted to tell you about this amazing place I finally made it out to visit in Stittsville called St. Elmos Fire. A very quaint, log cabin type building filled with beautiful artwork, jewellery, clothing and all sorts of curiosities. All made from local artists. There was even a shed out back filled with garden and furniture items which were all on sale (my favourite, things on sale). If you are interested in visiting or attending a workshop check them out at www.st-elmosfire.com. It was definately worth the trip and gave me the urge to get home and create.
Great Find
Man I love second hand stores, especially little known ones under churches. Check out the very cool book I found rummaging through a little shop on Elgin. It is vintage cover art for music from the late 1800's. This is going to provide me with much inspiration and probably find its way into some of my art. I also found these cute vintage buttons which will no doubt end up on one of my coffee sleeves.
Minto Park Sale
Come join us at the Minto Park Sale on Elgin this Saturday June 12, 2010 from 8am to 2pm. I have a table and will be selling my Coffee Cravats, cards and getting rid of some stamp sets I no longer use. Across the street, Elgin Street Public School will also be hosting their fundraising book sale with silent auction. There will also be some baked goodies available for purchase.
Hope to see you there!

Boat Adventure
So, a couple week-ends ago was our first adventure out on the boat. Chris (my man) decided to take us out to this little island in the middle of the Ottawa River thinking the girls might enjoy an adventure. Once there, we discovered one lone lighthouse and a plethora of Canadian Geese. The girls began exploring and we followed suit until Chris came across a huge and highly agitated goose. So Chris, having had previous experience with angry geese, picked up a stick in preparation to defend his family. The stick had no effect and the goose started chasing him up a hill. As I stood there laughing and mildly frightened, I thoroughly regretted not having brought my camera. Once we reached the top of the hill we realized why the goose was so angry, there were a few egg-filled nests scattered around. As we looked around the island we noticed there were at least 8-10 nests with females sitting on them glaring at us with the males hovering around ready to pounce. Needless to say, we didn’t stay for very long. We managed to escape unscathed and the girls were quite thrilled with the experience. I considered it a success as it inspired me to finish my painting and it gave me a visual of Chris that will not soon be forgotten, haha.
Pick-up Accomplished
Just returned from picking up my loot at Wallack's. There was barely anyone there compared to yesterday, so don't be afraid.
Wallack's Art Supplies Warehouse Sale
I attended the warehouse sale at lunch, almost didn't make it out alive. I was quite disappointed that they didn't have acrylic paint but I did however manage to find some good deals on canvas and charcoal pencils. The queue was ridiculous, in that I was there for 15 minutes and it moved a foot. The wonderful staff put our stuff aside though for pick-up in the morning, when we will have more time. All complaining aside, if you are brave and have a couple of hours to spend tomorrow, it is definately worth checking out. They have amazing deals on easels, drafting desks, papers, frames and all things artsy. The sale continues from 9am to 5pm tomorrow and the warehouse is located at 250 City Centre Avenue, Bay 222, second level (around back).
