Goodbye Fall

Wow, where has the time gone?  Christmas is but days away.  Here is a glimpse of my Fall in pictures.

My little muffin at the park...

I went back home to NB to spend some time with my ailing grandmother, my lovely Mimi.  I took the girls to Daly's Point...

Here are the apple trees I use to love to climb at my grandmothers house...

I use to feel so adventurous being so high up in those trees hiding from the rest of the world (or more likely my brothers :) As I looked at them, all kinds of childhood memories came back from when I would spend the weekends with my grandmother.  She use to get up at the crack of dawn, bake fresh bread and make me this huge spread for breakfast (fit for a queen), including freshly squeezed orange juice.  Being the strong, hard working lady she was, her clothes were always hung out to dry, no matter what the weather...

(For some reason this picture will only post sideways)

This is the first of a series of clothes line pieces I am doing in honour of my Mimi.

**UPDATE** I have moved.  Come check out this post on my new blog http://peaberrydesigns.com/goodbye-fall-2/

Got pics

Finally got a few pics from the Savoir Faire on our facebook page if you want to check them out.  We are currently on the lookout for a better space for the Spring edition of The Art & Crafts Savoir Faire.

Follow-up from the faire

So many things going on this month.  I unfortunately do not have any pictures from the fair as I forgot my brand new camera (that I got for my birthday from my lovely man, which I love, love, love, camera that is, well and the man).  I feel like such an idiot for such an oversight.  I am still hoping some of the vendors may have gotten pics they can forward.  I was so impressed with all of the great quality and original items from the vendors.  I had a great day and sold many paintings.  Namely the top one in the picture below.

used my Tim Holtz dress form stamp. I LOVE all of his stuff.  Oh, to be independently wealthy, I would buy all of his products in a second.

We are already on the look out for another larger venue for our spring edition of Savoir Faire. So, if you have any ideas in the downtown Aylmer area please let me know.

Back from the cottage :(

Back from a week on beautiful Anstruther Lake.  It took a couple days for little Millie to adjust but the big girls were quickly swimming and fishing away.  A week of fresh air and sun was greatly needed and appreciated by all...

Milah very proud of the bass she caught...

Ava with gramma and grandpa's new puppy...

a still morning before chaos ensues...

Amelia and I enjoying some fresh air.

All this and I even managed to get a mushroom mobile done that I was dying to do.

**UPDATE**  I have moved, come find this post on my new blog http://peaberrydesigns.com/back-from-the-cottage/

She Art

When I have a few spare moments I like to surf the net looking for other mixed media artists and the other day I came across one who is was quite similiar to me in style.  Her name is Christy Tomlinson and I absolutely love her stuff.  I signed up for her "She Art" workshop almost immediately.  I am really enjoying it, when I actually get a chance to work on it.  It is sometimes difficult to make time for your creative self, so I am pretty excited to have stumbled upon this world of online, self paced workshops (I know, where have I been right?)  Anyway, here is my first girl...

It is for my wonderful and brave friend Kristen who has finally gone out on her own and is opening her salon next week (if all goes well), it is called Mint Hair Studio.  I am so incredibly proud of this talented lady. Well, I am off to the cottage for a week, woot woot!!!!

Mushroom Medley

And here is my finished project.  I think it turned out pretty cute, toot toot, haha!

A Lovely Day

I had a great afternoon with my little crouton.  I stopped by Bridgehead for a yummy vanilla latte and the barista delighted me with this beautiful creation.  It was hard to drink it as I didn't want it to disappear into the abyss of my stomach.

After feeding Amelia I headed to Flock Boutique, one of my absolute favourite stores.  It is always filled with amazing hand made local goodies.  They also have workshops in all different mediums such as jewellry and sewing (dresses/aprons), how fun.  I am super jealous of the owners Bridget and Christina as they get to be surrounded by such inspiring things every day.

Once I soaked up some of the creativity I headed next door to St. Vincent De Paul (second-hand store) to see if I could find any interesting things to paint on.  I found a couple plaques made of wood.  One of which was this little one, which I am hoping to alter tonight.  Stay tuned............

The Art & Crafts Savoir Faire

A few pieces I have finished for the upcoming Art & Crafts Savoir Faire being held on September 10, 2011 at the Aylmer United Church in Aylmer, Quebec which is just 15 minutes from downtown Ottawa.  Come check out all the original artwork and crafts from 10am to 5pm.  If you are interested in being a vendor we can be reached at artcraftsavoirfaire@hotmail.com.

Inspired

I have been so incredibly inspired in the last few weeks. I attended The New Art Festival (formerly Art in the Park) in the Glebe and was amazed at all of the beautiful work and talented people that were there. I cannot believe that after all these years of having it that I hadn't made it down there. Boy was it worth the trip. There was an artist whose paintings I really liked, his name was Mark Jeremy Gleberzon. He was adorable and let me take a picture of one of his newer and different pieces. It is an old photograph blown up and mounted on metal. It was pretty cool in that it had a shimmery quality to it and was coated in resin so was also very glossy. I took the photograph with my phone so it is kind of hard to tell. You can see Mark is holding it up for me, haha. Needless to say, being there made me want to go home and paint, immediately. I did just that and I finished three little mixed media pieces, YEY ME!!! Pictures to follow shortly...

More Nursery Goodies

Happy Thursday all!! It is a pretty dark and dreary day here so I thought I might try and bring on the sunshine with my bright and cherry bird mobile I made for baby Amelia's room. It is over her change table. I just was not happy with what I was seeing out there so I figured why not make it myself!!!!

Ultrasound Layout

I started Amelia's first scrapbook. Here is the first layout. It is the ultrasound where we found out she was a girl. I thought it was appropriate to make it pink and girly but with a touch of black to tone it down a little and to balance out the black in the picture.

**UPDATE**  I have moved.  Please come check out this post on my new blog http://peaberrydesigns.com/amelia-ultrasound-layout/

Thank You Mini Album

My in-laws have been amazing help lately so I didn't want to give them the average thank you card so I whipped up a square mini album that folds into itself. I haven't given it to them yet, so shhhhh! I tried to keep it simple but I am happy with the way it turned out. Here is a link to a tutorial for making the album. http://www.pagesoftheheart.net/artman/publish/article_1036.shtml

Easter Week-end

I know I am a little behind with this post but with a newborn in the house things are a little hectic. We travelled to Peterborough for the Easter weekend to visit grandma and grandpa Baal. Boy am I grateful to have such amazing in-laws. Just wanted to post a couple pics of the girls with their Easter treats, which they found at the end of their treasure hunt put on by the Easter Bunny himself.

Check out our little crouton (she was upgraded from a crumb as she is now over 10 pounds!!!) with her bunny slippers. Adorable!

Back from the dead

Hello all, I am back. Things got a little busy with the pregnancy which ended in an early c-section but check out my prize. Isnt she the cutest thing ever?? She came in at 6 pounds 1 ounce and three weeks early. We got a bit of a scare with her but all is well now. Time to get the nursery finished. Posts of nursery goodies to follow soon!!
